Compost Tools For Garden Composting

Compost Tools For Shredding Leaves

Leaves can be collected in bags during fall and they are excellent ingredients for composting. A leave shredder is needed the shred the leaves for the fungi that to munch on the leaves faster. Leave shredder is not an expensive compost tool and it works fast.

Compost Tools For Turning Compost

To turn clumps of grass or weeds in the compost pile in the garden, it is good to have a fork spade. A pitchfork or a short handle spade can also do the job but not very well as they do not pick up very easily with a shovel. A spade shovel with a long handle is the best compost tools for these jobs. These tools is needed to turn the compost or lifting the compost when it gets broken down a little bit more as it gets closer to looking like soil.

Use Of Compost Thermometer

A tool that some composters really use a lot is a thermometer with a long stem. It measures the temperature of the compost heap by sticking it down into the compost. The temperature is a good indication of how hard the compost pile is. For those who are keen to make really quick compost and want lots of heat in the pile, the thermometer is helpful to give indication of what is going on down inside the pile. For others who prefer to let composting take place naturally, the thermometer is off little use and composting would take place even if there is no intervention.

Non Urban Compost Tumbler

Urban Compost Tumbler

Urban citizens neither have the space nor time to maintain compost pile in the backyard. There are also urban regulations on compost piles such as neighbor complaints and pests control. Many cities now ban on open compost piles because of breeding of rats, mice, raccoons and insects.

Urban compost tumbler is designed for urban composting. Fully enclosed for pest control, it is easy to use with minimum maintenance. It is attractively designed with minimum footprint for limited yard space common in urban areas. Made of recycled food grade plastic, urban compost tumbler is ideal for recycling of yard, garden, and kitchen waste

Easy Composting With Urban Compost Tumbler

Urban compost tumbler requires no cranks nor rollers. It relies on the central aeration tube to supply oxygen for the aerobic microorganisms without constant turning of compost piles. With ample supply of oxygen through central aeration system, the urban compost tumble is also able to acheive faster composting. The insulation system not only helps to aid heating of compost while composting, it also provide an odorless environment for the composting, which is mandatory for urban setting.
